“SONGS THROUGH THE YEARS”

Lamp Post 4 has been singing together for several years. The quartet mixes it up in their performances with a variety of songs, including ballads, comedy, 50’s & 60’s, and gospel. Ron Ventura -Bass, Ken Crawford – Baritone, Don Zerkle – Tenor, and Paul Webb – Lead, make up the quartet.
Baritone – Ken Crawford
Ken began singing at an early age and has sung in numerous church choirs, school musicals and choirs. He joined the Miami-Shelby chapter of Barbershop Harmony Society in 1995. He joined Lamp Post 4 as Baritone singer in November 2002. Ken retired in February 2003 from the Aeronautical Systems Command at WPAFB, Ohio. Ken’s other interests include tennis, golf and investing. Ken and his wife, Phyllis, live in Tipp City, Ohio.
Bass – Ron Ventura
Ron joined the Miami-Shelby Chorus shortly after his retirement in 1995. Since that time he sang with a few other quartets. He became Lamp Post 4 Bass singer in March 2002. Ron retired with 40 years service in law enforcement with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Miami County Sheriff Department, and Miami County Park District. He is currently employed as a driving instructor for AAA. His other hobbies include flying as a pilot and amateur radio. Ron and his wife, Jill, live in the country North of Covington, Ohio.
Lead – Paul Webb
Paul joined the Miami-Shelby Chorus in January 2001. Before that he sang in many choruses and the U. S. Navy Blue Jacket Choir. He joined Lamp Post 4 Quartet as Lead singer in March 2002. His other hobbies include golf and woodworking. Paul retired from Prudential Insurance Company after 29 years service, and also retired from the US Air Force Reserve with 26 years total service. Paul and his wife, Roberta, live in Piqua, Ohio.
Tenor – Don Zerkle
Don’s interest in musical harmony began in high school band where he played trombone and was drum major in the marching band for three years. He has been active in church music for many years as worship leader, bass singer in the choir and occasionally choir director. He joined the Miami-Shelby Chorus in 1999. He became Tenor singer with Lamp Post 4 in November 2005. Don has been employed at Mechanicsburg Implement Inc. since 1971 and has served as parts manager for much of that time. His other hobbies are home repair, woodworking, and gardening. Don and his wife, Lois, live in the house in which he grew up near Urbana, Ohio.
